Texas Women’s Prison Goes Without Heat Amid Freezing Temperatures

Significantly more than 1,000 females at federal prison that is medical Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas, are without temperature as Texas struggles to deal with energy outages throughout the state as a result of unprecedented power need after temperatures dropped this week.

Feamales in the prison told The Fort Worth Star-Telegram that while the jail has electricity, temperature is not readily available for inmates because the storm hit within the week-end, and therefore conditions within the jail dropped to 51 levels Tuesday.

“They knew the storm had been coming,” an inmate known as Faith Blake told the newspaper. “And they didn’t believe that repairing the heater is a good clear idea? Or making yes water pipelines will be guaranteed? Or at the very least a back-up generator.”
